In the feudal age, arranged marriage is very common. Even some old-fashioned family nowadays still arrange their children’s marriage. Arranaged marriage is the marriage in which the couple are made, usually by their parents, to marry the one they may not know and may not want to get married with. Reality, together with a great number of surveys made over years, show that just a few couples amongst those engaged in an arranged marriage feel happy with their spouses. Such fact reinforces my view that one had better find his or her other-half themselves.
No one but you yourself can know when you are ready for starting a love and getting married. This plays a very important role because loving and marrying someone is one of the most decisive turning-points in one’s life. You, therefore, ought to carefully consider finding the right time when You are full-prepared for your married life. If you agree on an arranged marriage, you will probably encounter certain problems for not being ready. In this case, the time of your getting marriage is not your own decision but your parents’ one. Certainly, they can’t know when is the appropriate time for you, thus this will cause many troubles later.
Similarly, it’s only you who can know who is your most compatible mate. The person chosen by the parents may be a good man, yet there’s nothing able to make it sure that the chosen one will be compatible with their child. The couple should spend a long-enough period of time together to fully understand each other. Only when a close-knit relation between the both exists can they together get over obstacle in life. In addition, it’s also the appropriate time for them to decide to get married, as each of them has realized that one is the true half of the other.
More important, the construction of a marriage should utterly be based on a true love. In some arranged marriage, the couple even doesn’t see their spouse-to-be until the wedding day. What will happen if they can’t fall in love with each other after marriage? It’s a disaster if the couple share everything but their soul and love. Instead of sharing everything both physically and mentally together, they suffer each other. Therefore, to have a happy marriage, one should marry the one they love. When loving each other, a couple can easily share everthing and sympathize with each other. The power of love will help them find it easier to encounter difficulties in life. Love is a strong attachment between the two lovers and it usually leads to a happy and long-lasting marriage.
In conclusion, while love is the key factor in a concrete and long-lasting matrimony, it is hard to find in an arranged marriage. In this modern society, arranged marriage should be abolished, because everyone has their own right to marry the one they love.

ReplyDeleteThis piece of writing remains much to be expected. In other words, I know you can do much better. Lexical repetition (marriage, each other...) appears to form an impression of clumsiness as well as grammatically inappropriate words usage have obstructed readers' flow of thinking.

"In this modern society, arranged marriage should be abolished, because everyone has their own right to marry the one they love." This sentence does not recap your point of view because for most of the writing, you argue for the inappropriateness of arranged marriage( wrong time, lack of love and mutual comprehension...) but in the final sentence, you refer to the legal right of individual, which seems irrelevant to your previous argument.

ReplyDeleteAs noted below the post, this piece of writing was originally written by my friend, and my task is to correct her errors. Then I made some alteration to her post to form this entry. You know, editing people's writing is quite hard than producing an essay myself, and I just tried to keep most of her basic ideas and words. Anyways, I should have paid much more attention to those things you mentioned.
By the way, I did think of the repetition of the word "marriage", yet besides replacing it with matrimony, I have no other choice. Can you help?
Instead, you could say that arranged marriage should be abolished as it prove to be an obstacle on the quest for true-love-based marriage.

ReplyDeleteOne out of many possibilities: Arranged marriage used to be a popular phenomenon during the feudal time. This tradition could still be found nowadays in some old-fashioned families. Arranged marriage is defined in its simplest form as the one in which the parents choose the husband or wife for their child, regardless of the fact that their child may not know or want the chosen person. Statistically, a great number of surveys conducted over years have consistently pointed out a really small number of those who engaged in this kind of planned ritual can actually feel happy with their spouses. This evidence has further reinforced my point of view that one should find, his/herself, for the other half.
